"Accentuate your best features and disguise what you are not so happy with. Choose outfits that fit and make you look comfortable rather than those that are up-to-the-minute." Giorgio Armani
Hi dolls!!!!!Hope everyone is doing well..
Todays blog post is on BODY SHAPES..right c'mon admit it....We all have experience with this ourselves. You know how it goes. You try on outfit after outfit. Everything looks horrible. It's either too baggy in the butt, too tight in the thighs, or it fits the thighs and butt, but the waste it too big. AGHHHHHH! Then it happens. You try something on, and it's the perfect fit. Wow, maybe you are not a mutant after all. Wouldn't it be nice to know why that outfit looks so good on you, and why the others didn't? So here are the do's and dont's..
As everyone comes in different shapes and body sizes we have to establish what will look flattering on you and what to avoid!!
You have to always remember that NOBODYS is perfect..we all have flaws.
So first things first we have to conclude which body shape you are, then what suits you, what works for and what you can rock!!This gives an illusion that you have a well balanced figure.
Its not about size its about proportion!!
Fashion is architecture: it is a matter of proportions. " Coco Chanel
So here I will highlight the different body types and style solutions:
TOP HEAVY BODY TYPE:
Big breasts, not too broad shoulders, short waist and long skinny legs.Your solution : Pick pieces that are shaped but not so figure hugging. Bring attention to the bottom half of the body.
Get a well fitted bra a very close friend of mine and mahaims worked for La senza which im sure all of you have heared of,a lingrie store whre 1000's of ladies would walk in and out of but 60% would be wearing the wrong size!!its deadly important that you have the support and lift needed as this makes a huge impact on your posture, the way you walk and obviously in clothes.
Dont: wear tops with alot of detail such as ruffles, thick material tops, string vest tops.
Do: Wear heels as this makes the body look alot longer hence making it look more balanced.A Fitted tailored blazer which fits snug at the waist with plenty of room around the bust area.
BOTTOM HEAVY BODY TYPE (Pear Body Shape):
Small at the top, small breasts, small shoulders, tiny waist, big thighs, and the calves and ankles don't have much definition.
Your Solution: Bring attention to the top part of the body
Dont:Wear extra clingy skirts or tight jeans, avoid side pockets and pencil skirts
Do: full skirt and strapless cut dress will bring all the focus to the smaller upper half. High-waisted, belted skirts draw attention to a slimmer waist line.
Highlight the positive and delete the negative."Donna Karen
TOP and BOTTOM HEAVY BODY TYPE (apple body shape):
all round; small shoulders, big breasts and waist, big hips and buttocks and no definition in the calves and ankles.
Dont: Avoid tight, wide-cut pants, which can make the bottom look wider, avoid vertical stripes.
Do: Wear V-neck fitted cardigans, scooped necks and pencil skirts. Skirts should be fastened on the side and flat-fronted, to avoid extra bulk, waist defining outfits.
NO CURVES/ ATHLETIC BODY TYPE:
No curves, the top half and bottom half are equal in size.
Your Solution: Create Curves and an ideal hour glass shape
Dont: go bra-less under flimsy fabrics, no matter how small the breast, it's not classy, wear incredbily tight clothes which highlight the "curves".
Do:Draping dresses with patterns will create curves in all the right places. Padded Bra/Gel Bra (Don't assume any bra with padding will work; it must fit so the seams and padding can't be seen )
So this brings us to the end of this post, lets go over the fashion truth:
- Darker colors minimize, while lighter or shiny ones highlight.
- To play down a large chest, avoid wearing bright metallic tops.
- Have a thicker waist? A dark brown belt is better than a white one.
- Horizontal stripes make anything look wider.
- To look taller and leaner wear monocromatic tops and bottoms
Hope this helped you..be sure to leave us some feedback!
Just want to take this time to say thank you to those of you who have joined our facebook group and given us plenty of support!!
